Why you need a 'Taking Care of Business' membership:

  • Taking Care of Business is a membership platform providing professional support to businesses, not-for-profits and individuals exploring entrepreneurship with online workshops and one-on-one professional support through their local Community Futures office.

  • If you are in a Community Futures region throughout BC, you can get Taking Care of Business with your FREE membership!

  • You and your team will have access to valuable supports, programs and online training sessions specifically for small and medium businesses throughout rural BC for FREE!

  • Your local Community Futures office is there to support you whether you’re a first time small or experienced Business owner. Check out their All Things Business under their “Services” tab.

BC Government

  • BC’s first ever permanent paid sick leave came into effect this year (2022) with 5 paid sick days each year.

  • Part time, Full time and casual employees are eligible for this this benefit

  • Employees must have worked for their Employer for at least 90 days to be eligible for the paid sick days.

  • Employees are entitled to receive their regular wages for these days and they do not have to be taken consecutively.  They also do not roll over to the next year if an Employee does not use their sick days the previous year.

  • Employees are also eligible for 3 days unpaid sick leave

The Fair Pharmacare plan is base on income:  the less a family earns, the more help they get

  • People who live in BC can get help from BC Pharmacare to pay for some:

  • Prescription drugs (helpful if you don’t have extended health benefits)

  • Medical devices and supplies

  • Pharmacy services

  • How to get on a Pharmacare Plan

  • Register online, by phone or by mail.
